Our goal is to capitalize on the many talents each of you have to offer, but it is also important that your needs and expectations be met in the ways in which you choose to volunteer. Here is how you can help!
FERRET PLAY AND SOCIALIZATION
Provide exercise, playtime and teaching the ferrets good socialization skills, for example, how to play without nipping, how to play with other ferrets, etc.
FERRET RUNS
Going on ferret runs (at your own expense) to pick up unwanted ferrets being surrendered to our shelter. Also, making sure the proper paperwork is filled out by the person surrendering.
GROOMING
Bathing ferrets, clipping nails and cleaning ears.
VET RUNS
Taking ferrets to the vet for vaccinations and health evaluations and picking ferrets up post-op. All vet visits will be paid for by the shelter.
FOSTERING
Providing hospice to the terminally ill and/or elderly ferrets that cannot be adopted, and to act as overflow housing for the shelter. A special fostering application will have to be completed prior to being allowed to foster.
BOARDING
Helping us to board for our customers that are trusting us to provide good quality care for their ferrets. A special application must be completed prior to allowing you to provide boarding services.
SHELTER CLEANING
Cleaning cages, doing ferret laundry, cleaning ferret toys, carriers and other ferrety items that need to be cleaned and disinfected.
EVENTS
Helping out at ferret events, for example, ferret education days, fundraisers, etc.
DONATION SOLICITATION
Soliciting donations from buisnesses and at our ferret events.
FUNDRAISING
Help coordinate fundraisers and get involved in fundraising events. We would like to have few fundraisers a year.
LOVE ON LOAN
Take shelter ferrets or your own ferrets (with proper vaccination records) to senior citizen centers (when requested), and to various schools for education days or pet therapy.
OFFICE HELP
Help organize paperwork, update website, put together pamphlets and brochures and other office work needed to be done.
